Comment s'y rendre

Anglais: Termas da Azenha is a former spa in mid-Portugal. It is situated in a beautiful valley about 12 km from the Atlantic Coast. It was originally a spa resort with healing waters and a history going back a few hundred years. The natural spring still operates and the buildings have been mostly maintained. The complex lies just outside the village of Pedrogão do Pranto, at the foot of some hills in the valley of the Pranto River (a branch of the Mondego River which empties into the Atlantic Ocean at Figueira da Foz). The location, on the border of two different ecosystems (rice fields abounding with water and afforested hills), gives this area a rich flora and fauna. There are over 300 bird species and a large variety of deciduous, pine and fruit trees. Numerous fish, river crayfish, shrimp, fox, rabbit, hare and bats can be found here as well. At Termas da Azenha you can enjoy a relaxing, natural holiday. Termas da Azenha has a swimming pool and paddling pool filled with pure spring water from the Termas. There is a large library (including children's books and movies) and a gym in the old bath house. There is also plenty for kids to do. There are board games, Legos, a number of musical instruments (piano, guitar, drums) and a dressing room with lots of nice clothes, shoes, scarves, hats and wigs. Every week there are mosaic workshops. Furthermore, you can enjoy a relaxing massage (relaxation, sports, hot stone, shiatsu, foot). These are given in the bathhouse, now beautifully renovated and decorated. All houses and rooms in the Termas have been beautifully painted or contain lovely mosaics. There is a nice cafe with a terrace and you can even make dinner reservations. Termas is a (tiny) small farm with lots of fruit trees, olive trees, a vegetable garden and some sheep. In the summer we organize donkey cart rides (by appointment). Children can ride Esme the donkey or pet the dogs or chickens. And of course it is always pleasant on a hot day to cool off in the pool (2010). In short, a holiday at Termas da Azenha is great for people who love nature and would like to enjoy organic food, plenty of rest and simple-but-comfortable accommodation.

Autres informations concernant les attraits de la région

Le propriétaire fournit également de l'information dans ces autres langues:

Anglais: This region is ideal for hiking, cycling and horseback riding. It is also very attractive for a seaside holiday because of places like Figueira da Foz and the quiet beaches of Lavos and Leirosa. If you are looking for relaxation, beautiful nature and clean beaches, this is the place to be! The mineral springs at the complex are, of course, an additional attraction. This region has plenty to offer, and not just for people who are interested in culture. The old university town of Coimbra is less than 40 km away and excavations of a former Roman fortress are less than 25 kilometers away. Also in the vicinity: the pilgrimage site of Fatima, the monastery of Batalha, a former hunting lodge in Buçaco with a marvelous park, and the health resorts of Curia and Luso with their monuments which are reminiscent of the Bel Epoque, the "golden age" of the upper class. These places are accessible by car in less than an hour. A selection of other possibilities in the area: kayaking on the Mondego; the castle in Montemor-o-Velho after swimming in Ereira;, Conimbriga: beautiful Roman excavations with well-preserved mosaics; Figueira da Foz: recreational pool with slides and high beach carnival, football, basketball, beach-ball, volleyball courts and a climbing park in the Serra de Boa Viagem. Coimbra also has several other options: narrow streets with shops, cathedral, churches, museums, halls, a Roman aqueduct by a botanical garden; a boat trip on the river; a visit to a children's park of "Portugal dos Pequenitos" (all the houses of Portugal and its former colonies in miniature) and a picnic in the old forest on the outskirts of town. The charming village of Tomar, combined with a day on the Zêzere, a nice river where you can swim. Frages the Simões: descend into a gorge with a river where your children can play. Termas de Curia: back in time for less than one euro and enjoy the gardens of the spa of Curia. You can also rent pedal boats on the canals and enjoy a refreshing drink on the shaded terraces.
