Anglais: In the southeastern part of Belgian Limburg, where the Belgian Kempen descends to the Meuse Valley, lies the National Park Hoge Kempen (5,750 ha). Its forests, moors and fens are iconic. This park, together with the rest of the Kempen and Maasland, contains a network of hundreds of kilometers of well-constructed hiking, cycling and horseback riding trails.Approximately 6 km northwest of Maastricht lies Lanaken, which is one of the entrances to the National Park. In the town of Lanaken, in Rekem - known as the prettiest village in Flanders – you will find the beautiful resort of “Sonnevijver‿.
This detached and comfortably furnished 4-person bungalow is quietly situated, surrounded by a spacious garden of 440 m2. On two sides of the bungalow there is a terrace, which is a pleasantly covered.

Anglais: The rain-fed Meuse River is 40 km long and winds its way along the Belgian / Dutch border from Maastricht to Kessenich. This meandering river constitutes a varied landscape with many branches, levees, streams, channels and gravel banks, plus some truly beautiful towns like Lanaken (5 km).Your exploration can best begin in Rekem itself, which has been proclaimed the most beautiful village in Flanders. Here you will find numerous attractions such as the Chateau d'Aspremont-Lynden; the art and museum church; Uickhoverpoort; the distillery of Senden; the stained glass studio of Beins Berger etc. Also, the castle park of Pietersheim with its petting zoo and 12th-century castle ruin is highly recommended. The castle has a visitor’s center and is the official gateway to the National Park Hoge Kempen.
For an exploration of Old Rekem, there is a hiking brochure: "... an authentic Maasparel" - an excellent guide! This 2.2 km route takes you along the most beautiful places and highlights the rich history of the town.
The pristine valleys and extensive nature of Lanaken forms a tourist area par excellence. The landscape is crisscrossed by numerous hiking and cycling paths. In and around Lanaken there is a cycling network of up to 1,800 km in length. There are approximately 70 km of hiking trails. The Maas can be also explored by kayak or a quiet canal boat

Whether you are looking for an active holiday of cycling or hiking, or just want to pamper yourself with a treatment program or a luxury cruise combined with delicious gourmet dining, the former ducal town of Lanaken has it all. In the center you can do some enjoyable shopping. Various terraces around the square have elegant arcades and streets.
Inside the bungalow you’ll find an information pack to help you choose from among the many possibilities. In it you will find trips to: Tong (22km), Liege (44 km), Hasselt (40 km), Aachen (44 km) and the famous European Maastricht (10 km) – all of which are very worthwhile.
