Autres informations concernant les attraits de la région

Anglais: This area is known as "the valley of fortresses and castles‿ and it was these that once saved the city of Dinant and the region of the Upper-Meuse. This is a region that, summer and winter, attracts visitors of all types. They are not only tempted by the fact that Dinant is the "capital of gastronomy‿, but are also drawn by the 1900 km network of marked trails, a river with a whole range of possibilities and an extensive historical legacy. One of the landmarks of the area is its orange trees. They are only put out in summer. In total there are about thirty, some of which are over 300 years old! They were purchased from the Duke of Lorraine, Stanislas Lesczynski, the former king of Poland and father of Louis XV. Annevoie, a European garden with French, Italian and English design elements, shows an incredible style, unique in Belgium and perhaps the finest in Europe. It contains more than 20 reservoirs and ponds which are supplied by a combination of water jets, fountains and waterfalls. The most famous name in this area is undoubtedly Dinant, birthplace of Adolphe Sax, inventor of the saxophone. Dinant lies between cliffs and the Meuse River. An 11th century citadel stands guard on the rocks above the city. From the river you have a wonderful picturesque view of the city with its famous Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame situated below the citadel. Boat trips on the Meuse are a tourist favorite. They show the Meuse Valley in all its splendor. However you should also look at the cliff opposite the Castle of Freyr, which is quite popular with Belgian rock climbers.- En ligne depuis: 2011-01-12
