PLACES TO SEE:
Rhuys Peninsula. Between the Gulf of Morbihan and the Altantic ocean, it boasts long sandy beaches, a golf course directly on the Atlantic coast, small fishing ports and the typical weekly markets. A paradise for sailors and watersports enthusiasts.
Gulf of Morbihan. Inland sea dotted with beautiful and picturesque little islands (one for each day of the year !) offering an exceptional panorama that can be enjoyed by boat or during a walk along the coast.
Port du Crouesty. 12 km. Modern and popular port, one of the largest in Brittany, with lively yachting marina packed with cafes, restaurants and shops.
Vannes. 25 km. Delightful and lively city with narrow cobbled streets and medieval buildings crammed around its cathedral. Outside the old walled town, the large colourful port shelters many yachts and is the point of departure for scenic boat trips to the Gulf of Morbihan islands.

THINGS TO DO:
Château de Suscinio, Sarzeau. 5 km. Impressive 13th century moated fortress and home of various Dukes of Brittany. The castle also houses a museum of the history of Brittany and the Morbihan area.
Golf de Rhuys-Kerver, St Gildas de Rhuys. 10 km. Golf course. 18 holes Par 72 - 5989m. At the heart of Southern Brittany bird reserve, next to herons and egrets, an authentic seaside course. Rolling greens and plenty of water features.
Aquarium du Golfe, Vannes. 25 km. Aquarium. 50 tanks taking you from the Morbihan Gulf to the Red Sea via the Amazon. A refreshing visit for the whole family.
Parc de Branféré, Le Guerno. 35 km. Animal park.Very pleasant vast open air animal park with over 120 species and some 1,000 animals from around the world. In a beautiful setting, with the lovely back of Château Branféré.

FURTHER AFIELD:
Auray. 40 km. Charming little town with beautiful old quarter with delightful 15th and 16th century houses. Nearby Ste Anne d’Auray is Brittany’s most important place of pilgrimage drawing thousands of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world all year round but especially on July 26th for its “Pardon de Ste Anne” which was attended by Pope John Paul II in 1996.
Rochefort en Terre. 45 km. One of the most delightful villages in Brittany with every available stone surface, from the window ledges to the picturesque wishing well, adorned with colourful flowers. The village narrow cobbled streets with a variety of crafts workshops lead up to the medieval castle which is open for guided visits.
Josselin. 70 km. Lovely medieval town on the banks of the tranquil River Oust. The town is overlooked by a magnificent castle, still inhabited but open to the public. The castle also hosts an interesting Doll museum.
Belle Ile. 70 km. The largest and most beautiful island in Brittany. Its stunning splendour has inspired many artists: Sarah Bernhardt, Gustave Flaubert, Claude Monet, and many others have fallen under its charms. So will you when you discover its green and undulating countryside and enormous sandy beaches. Well worth a day trip. Best discovered by bike. Boat crossings from Quiberon.
