Getting there
In southern Vendée, 35 km south of La Roche sur Yon, between the sandy beaches of Les Sables D’Olonne and La Tranche sur Mer. Don''t miss a visit to the home of French statesman Clémenceau, fit in a bit of wind surfing, swimming, bike riding, fishing…the possibilities are endless.

PLACES TO VISIT:
St Vincent sur Jard. Pleasant resort with sandy beach best known for statesman Georges Clémenceau’s country house. In 1919, after the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, Clemenceau retired in Vendée. The house remains as it was on his death in 1929, with his furniture and personal effects. The remarkable gardens created in the dunes by his close friend Claude Monet were fully restored in 2006.
Longeville sur Mer. 6 km. Seaside resort with village centre gathered around a church a few km from its beaches, and boasting 650 hectares of coastal forest, ideal for hiking, riding and cycling. Also at the tip of the famous Marais Poitevin (marshes) with boat rides and canoe trips during the summer.
La Tranche sur Mer. 20 km. Popular seaside resort facing south towards the Ile de Ré and boasting 8 km of sandy beaches. Great for water sports, in particular windsurfing and surfing.
Les Sables d''Olonne. 30 km. Vendee''s best known and largest resort. With its long promenade, choice of wide sandy beaches and excellent quayside restaurants, it is a popular destination for a family day holiday or day trip. Point of departure of the famous Vendée Globe race the singlehanded, non-stop around the world yacht race which made Ellen MacArthur so famous when she sailed into the record books in February 2001 by becoming the youngest person and fastest woman to sail solo around the world.

Le 7e Continent, Talmont Saint Hilaire. 10 km. Aquarium. The 7ème Continent is a new-generation aquarium made up of huge pools with faithful reconstructions of their natural décor in which you can immerse yourself in the wonders of the tropical underwater world. Who knows, you may even come across some extraordinary creatures you have never seen before!
The Vendée Automobile Museum, Talmont St Hilaire. 10 km. Museum. A family’s collection started in 1939 which has led to the preservation of over 200 vehicles (cars, bicycles, motorcycles and horse-drawn carriages) ranging from 1885 to prototypes for the future. 160 of them are displayed in a vast hall decorated with a remarkable collection of posters and advertisements of the day.
Golf de Port Bourgenay. Talmont St Hilaire. 20 km. Golf course. 18 holes Par 72 - 5845m. On the edge of the sea and bordering an enclosed forest, this golf course overlooks the marina of Port Bourgenay.
Parc zoologique des Sables dÂ’Olonne, Les Sables dÂ’Olonne. 30 km. Animap park. Strolling along the shaded avenues amidst luxuriant vegetation, you will enjoy fascinating encounters with big cats, amusing interludes with monkeys, touching meetings with giraffes and enthralling sightings of reptiles, over 200 animals in natural surroundings.
