Getting there

Saint Rabier is built on a hillside with lovely views over the hilly Dordogne! Saint Rabier is 15 km north west of Terrasson, a magnificent town. 50 km from Périgueux, the Périgord Blanc capital, on the banks of the river Isle. The old medieval town, the Saint-Front cathedral - a UNESCO building since 1998, the streets lined with red tiled houses, the squares with many colourful terraces, are all well worth a visit, as well as the farmers’ markets which take place every day between 8am and 1pm or the main market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. In the heart of Dordogne, the Périgord Blanc has many attractions including the Vezère and Isle rivers, the many villages so typical of this beautiful region, the châteaux and churches, but also the Lascaux caves and Les Eyzies. The Périgord gastronomy is famous for its foie gras and duck, truffles and fine wines. Ideal base to visit the numerous châteaux such as Hautefort, Thivier and Montignac; local prehistoric caves, Sarlat and the Dordogne River (canoeing-kayaking).
Environment : Le Ferry is situated in a cul-de-sac in the small village of Saint Rabier, in a valley in the middle of the countryside with lovely views over fields and vineyards. Not far from the motorway, but without traffic noise.

PLACES TO VISIT:

Cromagnon man was discovered here at the end of the 19th century. Nearby Fond de Gaume is one of the last prehistoric cave-painting sites that is still open to the public. The National Prehistory Museum which houses one of the worldÂ’s most complete collections of prehistoric artifacts is also found in Les Eyzies.
