Les Placelles - Holiday Gite Apartment in Saint Projet The Lot, in the Midi-Pyrenees region of SW France, borders the Dordogne and is an area of absolutely outstanding natural beauty. As well as miles of undulating forested hills, honey-coloured mediaeval bastide villages, majestic rivers and dramatic cliffs, it also has some of the oldest remaining traces of prehistoric civilisation and shares an interesting and very chequered history with Britain through the years (think Richard the Lionheart, for example!).

Les Placelles is named after its location just outside the village of St Projet and situated between the Causses du Quercy National Park and the Haute Bouriane. Midway between the valleys of the Lot and Dordogne rivers, it is a perfect base for exploring both the Perigord and the Lot.

The apartment at Les Placelles is not part of a holiday complex; it is completely independent. The owners make every effort to ensure you have absolute privacy to enjoy the property as you would your own home, while being readily available to assist with local information, planning trips or making reservations on your behalf. It is available to rent all year round and has been newly renovated and refurbished to provide a secluded, relaxing retreat for couples or groups of up to 4 people. Set in grounds of 1.5 hectares of natural gardens and meadow with views over the surrounding farmland and wooded valley, it is within an easy drive of all amenities.

The apartment has its own private access from external stone stairs (8 steps) to a covered porch/balcony which overlooks the pool. The front door leads straight into the light and spacious main living area which has a comfortable settee plus a good quality double bed-settee ( clic-clac ). Flat screen TV (French and UK Freeview) and DVD/MP3 player (with a selection of films and music dvds), dining area with table and chairs for 4, and a modern kitchen area well-equipped with all electrical goods, crockery, glassware and utensils to make your stay as comfortable and relaxed as possible. You'll find a good selection of local information leaflets and guides to the area plus a selection of books and family games. All household essentials are provided (kitchen rolls, detergents, cleaning products, loo rolls, food wrap etc) and a simple welcome pack of local produce on your arrival. Just put your cases down, take a deep breath and ... relax!!

The bedroom is large and airy with a velux window overlooking the valley and views towards the village of St Projet. A double bed (linen supplied), bedside drawer unit, chest of drawers and bedside wall lights, hair dryer. Wardrobe with hanging space and additional shelf space. The separate shower room has a high quality corner shower cabin, wc, heated towel rail and a vanity unit with storage for your personal toiletries. Towels are provided (not for outside use). Please note that the apartment and the pool area are no smoking zones. A washing machine and a tumble drier are at your disposal in the “cave” of the main house, as are an iron and ironing board and food storage space in a freezer if required. Outdoor rotary clothes line. If you are bringing cycles, these can be stored safely under cover.

Outside you have your own terrace area with gas barbecue/plancha, table and chairs, a bench for some relaxed holiday reading and sunloungers set out by the 4.5m x 12.5m clearwater pool (no salt, no chlorine) which is protected with a security cover when not in use. The pool has Roman steps and a gentle slope to a deep end of 1.8m. It is heated and has underwater lighting if you fancy an evening dip! You have private unrestricted use of the pool and we aim to have it open between April/May and October, obviously depending on the prevailing weather conditions.
