You can visit the beautiful Parco del Gran Paradiso: this was Italy’s first national park, formed when King Vittorio Emanuele II donated his huge hunting grounds to the nation in 1922. This superb natural environment is home to some 3500 ibex, to chamois and golden eagles. The park also has a diversity of rare, wild Alpine flowers, many to be seen in the botanical gardens in the Cogne Valley.

You can cross Mont Blanc (Monte Bianco) by funicular railway: the journey across the mountain offers quite stunning views. And during winter there are many skiing stations nearby (Courmayeur is a major centre for winter sports of course) and you could spend a whole week, going to a different ski station each day. And with this Alpine vacation in Italy lying 700m up in the mountains, you will enjoy clear, clean, refreshing air ... yet the house is just ten minutes from the lovely regional capital of Aosta.
