Getting there
Situated in Southern Brittany, between the bustling city of Lorient and the delightful walled city of Concarneau, 15 km south of the charming market town of Quimperlé and 4 km from the family seaside resort of Moëlan sur Mer. An ideal base to discover this beautiful coastline with many fine beaches, picturesque harbours and a host of watersports.
Environment : Close to the pretty port of Merrien and within easy reach of beautiful sandy beaches. Many good walking opportunities in the area.
PLACES TO VISIT:
Quimperlé. 15 km. Charming market town situated at the confluence of the Isole and Ellé rivers that combine to form the Laïta river. Its historic quarter is filled with pretty winding cobbled streets and quaint half-timbered houses.
Pont Aven. 15 km. ArtistsÂ’ haunt situated inland from the tip of the Aven estuary. It is a small port popular with tourists and boasting many art galleries. Made famous by Gauguin when he came to paint in the 1880Â’s before leaving for Tahiti and inspired the Pont Aven school.
Concarneau. 30 km. Fishing port with delightful fortified old city. Enjoy a stroll through the small town and donÂ’t miss the famous Kouign Amann, a Breton cake full of butter and sugar. Very naughty but so delicious!
Lorient. 30 km. Bustling city with wide boulevards and a vast array of stylish shops, lying on an immense natural harbour protected from the ocean by the Groix island. Famous for its fantastic Celtic festival held every August when all Celtic nations meet for a week of music and celebrations. Not to be missed.

Vedettes Aven-Bélon, Moëlan sur Mer. 4 km. Boat trips. Take a trip on the “Paul Gauguin” with its panoramic viewing deck and sail past châteaux, manor houses and small harbours, observing many birds along the way. Board the boat in Pont-Aven or Port-Bélon from April to September.
Ty Nadan, Locunolé. 25 km. Tree top adventure park. Kayaking. Climbing. Horse riding. Quad bikes. Paint ball. Needless to say more! Excitement guaranteed. Booking essential.
Pont Scorff Zoo, Pont Scorff. 25 km. Fantastic zoo with plenty to occupy and interest the whole family. Allow the whole day to see the whole park and shows. Not to be missed.
Golf Ploemeur Océan, Ploemeur. 30 km. Golf course. 18 holes Par 72 - 5900m. With stunning views over the sea and Groix islands, the vast American style greens with water hazards will delight nature lovers and keen golfers alike. Challenging but fantastic.
FURTHER AFIELD:
Bénodet. 50 km. Charming and popular seaside resort and yachting centre with long and sheltered sandy beach. At the mouth of the Odet river, it can also be reached by boat from Quimper. The resort boasts a golf course, talassotherapy centre, casino and a good selection of restaurants.
Groix island. 50 km. Beautiful 8 km-long steep-sided island with gorgeous beaches. Ideal for a day trip and best visited by bike. Boat crossings from Lorient.
Quimper. 50 km. Beautiful riverside city with narrow cobbled streets, a Gothic cathedral and a host of lively bars and restaurants. Famous for its Breton faience pottery and Armor Lux clothes factory which collections are inspired by the colours of the sea and Breton values.
Pointe du Raz. 100 km. Most famous headland in Brittany and beauty spot offering breath taking vistas over the Atlantic ocean. Celebrated by Flaubert and Victor Hugo, it attracts millions of visitors. A stunning place to be on a windy day!
