Nice Apartment Has Views Over Farmland, with a River and the Colli Berici Hills Palazzo Rosso is a 400 acre (150 Hectare) arable farm 15 km south of the historic city of Vicenza and 1 km from the beautiful (400 meter) Colli Berici Hills. The farm is completely flat and next to the Bisato River. The farm is split into eleven fields which range from 7 to 25 hectares in size. There are also 15 acres (6 hectares) of vineyards on the farm.

Our 6 holiday apartments are built into the south facing wing of a 17th century Italian Villa on a family run 400 acre working arable farm called Palazzo Rosso (the Red Palace). The 400 year old building has just been completely and lovingly restored, retaining all original features, beams, solid stone walls, fireplaces etc. There is a 300 square meter, 10 meter high beamed barn for guest recreational use, paved with local stone. A 13.5x6 meter pool with jacuzzi jets was installed in the spring 2008. There are extensive gardens for guests on both sides of the building, as well as an orchard and courtyard animals (horse, ponies, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and dogs). The building faces south and has views out over our farmland, with a river and the Colli Berici hills to the west side, the Villa courtyard garden to the north side and our 15 acres of Vineyards to the east.

The six apartments are made up of four two bedroom apartments which sleep up to five comfortably and two one bedroom apartments. Well behaved pets are accepted in the two ground floor apartments. All of the apartments are supplied with linen, sheets, towels and beach towels, are fully air conditioned, with satellite television, WI-FI enabled (we can also lend you a laptop computer if necessary).

The apartments can be rented separately or together for larger groups. Upon request it is possible to rent a 110 square metre communal room with kitchen and bathrooms (which is situated next to the apartments). The apartments have access to a first floor 140 square metre open plan 6 metre high communal space. There is also a laundry room with washing machine, two sinks, clothes drying facilities, ironing board and iron for guest use.

Longare which is about 4km from the house is a quiet village at the foot of the Berici Hills (400 meters high) and is 13km from Vicenza city center. The local area is perfect for hiking, mountain biking & rock climbing as well as for enjoying the local cuisine & wine tasting. The area is very quiet and rural but at the same time very central for visiting all the important touristic and cultural centers such as Venice, Verona, Padova, Lake Garda and the Dolomites. Local activities cycling, fishing, golf, horse riding, mountain biking, roller blading, walking etc.

Vicenza is a city in northern Italy, it is the capital of the eponymous province in the Veneto region, at the northern base of the Monte Berico, straddling the Bacchiglione. Vicenza is approximately 60 km west of Venice and 200 km east of Milan. As of 2007 Vicenza had an estimated population of 119,038. The surrounding country is agricultural, but there are also quarries of marble, sulphur, copper, and silver mines, and beds of lignite and kaolin; mineral springs also abound, the most famous being those of Recoaro.

The city has an active and lively industrial sector, which is especially famous for jewelry and clothing factories. The Gold Exposition is world-famous and it takes place in Vicenza three times per year (January, May, and September). Other industries worthy of mention are the woolen and silk, pottery, and musical instruments. The headquarters of the bicycle component manufacturer Campagnolo are located here.
