Getting there

Situated 5 km from the beautiful village of St Léon sur Vézère which has owned it the title of "one of the most beautiful villages in France", in the Vezere valley, between Montignac and Les Eyzies. In the area known as the Black Périgord, famous for its many prehistoric sites, centred on the Vézère and Dordogne valleys and which has also long been admired for its beautiful scenery, with attractive towns and villages such as Montignac, Lascaux, Font-de-Gaume, Les Eyzies, Le Bugue, Limeuil, Terrasson, St Cyprien and Sarlat all worth a visit.
Environment : Quiet country setting, surrounded by greenery and flowers.

PLACES TO VISIT:
Montignac. 10 km. Pretty village on the Vézère River most famous for being home to the Lascaux Caves.
Les Eyzies. 15 km. Home to the worldÂ’s most beautiful caves, some with outstanding crystallisations as well as stunning cliffs and rock formations. Cromagnon man was discovered here at the end of the 19th century. Nearby Fond de Gaume is one of the last prehistoric cave-painting sites that is still open to the public. The National Prehistory Museum which houses one of the worldÂ’s most complete collections of prehistoric artifacts is also found in Les Eyzies.
Terrasson. 25 km. Attractive town on the banks of the Vézère River and renowned for its stunning “Jardins de l''Imaginaire”, award winning gardens planted on a steep hill.
Sarlat. 30 km. Beautiful, well restored town with old quarters dating from both medieval and renaissance times, with a maze of narrow medieval cobbled streets to explore.

THINGS TO DO:
Le Conquil - Parc aux Dinosaures, St Léon sur Vézère. 5 km. Learn in a fun and friendly way the evolution of the largest prehistoric animals and travel to the land of dinosaurs ... In a unique setting, overlooking St Leon sur Vézère, 18ha of fully shaded woodlands to explore (allow 90mn).
Le Conquil – Parcours Aventures, St Léon sur Vézère. 5 km. Tree top adventure. Along the Vezere, discover the tree top adventure trails designed for the whole family, adults, juniors and children alike. More than 40 workshops, zip lines, monkey bridges, Tarzan jumps, Himalayan bridges... Not for the faint hearted!
Grottes de Lascaux. 10 km. World famous caves boasting paintings estimated to be from around 19,000 years ago. Open to the public after WWII but closed in 1963 because the paintings were being damaged by the carbon dioxide produced by thousands of visitors. The current site is a replica situated 200m from the original site.
Le village du Bournat, Le Bugue. 30 km. A very popular attraction for families with a reconstructed village showing life in 1900. With animals on a working organic farm, crafts and a working windmill (which makes flour for the local bakers). There is also a funfair (included in the entrance price), picnic areas and restaurants.

FURTHER AFIELD:
La Roque Gageac. 45 km. One of the “Most beautiful villages in France” and very popular with tourists, with little more than a row of riverside houses squeezed between the Dordogne river and sheltered below the overhanging cliffs behind. A truly ''picture postcard'' village.
Tremolat. 45 km. The large sweeping bend of the River Dordogne, so-called the ''Cingle to Tremolat'' is what attracts visitors, rather than the village itself. The views from the Belvedere de Tremolat are magnificent and the 180 degree view across the enormous bend in the Dordogne River is astonishing.
Périgueux. 55 km. Capital city of the Dordogne department, set on the banks of the River Isle. The city boasts a beautiful medieval centre as well as a smaller but nonetheless fascinating roman quarter.
Monpazier. 60 km. One of the most stunning of the Bastide towns in the region with fantastically preserved me
