Further details about property

A Private Beachfront Lodge : Where the Mountains Meet the Sea in Beautiful This beautiful Wilderness Lodge is located on a privately owned, remote beach inside Alaska's Kachemak Bay State Park, midway between the villages of Seldovia and Halibut Cove, and only 10 miles by boat from Homer, Alaska, the “Bear Viewing Capital of the World.” Sadie Cove Wilderness Lodge offers the visitor a unique opportunity to participate in Alaska's wilderness lifestyle in a genuine, year-round, Alaskan home and lodge.

The Lodge is run completely on a non-polluting, alternative energy system of wind and hydro power which supply the entire grounds with energy to spare. The crystal clear mountain spring water is the purest on earth and may well be the most delicious, well oxygenated, and freshest natural water you have ever had the opportunity to drink.

Standard American electricity is provided by an in-house hydroelectric system operating from a clear and swift stream which tumbles down the mountains from the high snowy peaks of Sadie Cove. Self-sustaining and independent, the lodge is completely off the "grid". Lodge guests (no more than 10) are housed in 5 handcrafted private cabins. Wonderful meals are served in the dining room and on the outer deck. A cozy, spacious lounge is available to guests for reading, gaming, visiting, or just relaxing and enjoying the sunset.

All of the cabins have running water, toilets, 110 volt electricity, heat, fresh air-dried linens and blankets, a view of the cove, an outdoor deck, high thread count linens, bathrobes, Alaskana Library, and gracious housekeeping services. Two of the cabins have wood fires for romantic evenings and a secondary heat source. Organic architecture has helped the lodge buildings to blend into the environment and become an integral part of the vista.

Private Lodge cabins are not so much posh as they are practical. They are super-comfortable, but not opulent, and the lodge itself is not a sterilized, sanitized, Disneyland / Las Vegas fantasy hotel experience. Sadie Cove is a hand-built, small, Wilderness Lodge - full of comfort, raw natural wood, character, wilderness, good company, and adventures. It is a year-round home and full-service lodge that was cut out of the beach and the wild-land of Alaska totally by hand, beginning in 1972 when Kachemak Bay pioneer Keith Iverson first landed on the beach in his Klepper Kayak.

We live in the destination we love and take pride in sharing our lifestyle and local knowledge with you. Included in your stay at Sadie Cove Wilderness Lodge are the activities which we enjoy year round - hiking the trails of Kachemak Bay State Park which surrounds us, beach combing, exploring the fragile inter-tidal zones, clamming or fishing from the shoreline for salmon or Dolly Varden (gear is included). Fireplace, Laundry Service Available, Community Sauna, Deck, Video Library, Community Swimming Pool, Boat Dock, Garden View, Near Beach, VCR, Beach, Internet Access, Games, Mountain
