Welcome to the Folk Tree Lodge The hand carved and colored tree at the entrance gate is our Folk Tree. The tree once stood in front of our window and the dead, bare branches offered us the opportunity to watch the beautiful birds. It was wonderful to see how many of them enjoyed a rest on the tree. For safety reasons, we had to remove the tree but, it had given us so much pleasure, we made it the symbol of our property. The carving and vibrant colors make it a beacon to humans and wildlife alike, and now the birds perch atop it once again.

This land is a beautiful gift of nature that we fully enjoy and would love to share with you. There are many acres of forest, water, pasture, meadows and beauty , and many different colorful buildings, old and new , charming and unique. We are in the Kananaskis Country a few km from the picturesque and renowned Bragg Creek.

The one of a kind lodging, the diverse natural environment , and the nearby area create the opportunity for a truly special vacation. Your hosts are Alvise and Paola, both Italians who moved to Canada attracted by the beauty of the natural surroundings. It became a wonderful place to raise their children, Lucio and Anita. Needless to say "si parla Italiano" (we can speak Italian) and the friendly but international atmosphere is breathable all around the property.

Accommodation: This log cabin was build in 1954 and renovated in 2008. t's a masterpiece created by a local log builder and expert craftsman and renovated owner, Alvise, who is also a local folk art artist wife, Paola, a creative , nature-loving soul.

2000 sq feet of uniquity, just a few steps from the pasture, the meadow, the creek and the forest. Living/dining area with an astonishing granite/wood fireplace and original oak floors. Fine art and antique are part of this unique room. Fully equipped kitchen (don't forget she is Italian!) with decorative authentic cast iron range stove, conventional oven, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator.

Expansive sun room for relaxing activities and family games, overlooking a private yard sheltered by spruce and poplar. Lots of wildlife watching. Boardgames, toys and an English/italian books are available. Birds Room master bedroom with hand-carved queen log bed, exotic draperies and decoupage ceiling, walk-in closet, private "exotic birds" bathroom with jetted bath tub and shower. Hearts Room with strong red colors and antique furniture, queen bed, flowers blooming on the fully decorated ceiling.

Flowers Room with soft colors and flowers on the ceiling and draperies, with a hand-carved queen bed. Hearts and Flowers rooms share the flower theme bathroom with shower. Mandala Room is a loft space with a queen bed. This hidden space is a kid's favorite. Wireless internet access. TV and DVD with movie library, you can also rent movies at the Wordhouse in Bragg Creek.

The Land: If simply relaxing and embracing the peaceful atmosphere of the country is not enough for you, the Folk Tree Lodge property offers opportunities for leisure strolling , nature walks, picnics, and wildlife/bird watching. The presence of water such as ponds and creeks are a magnet for the local wildlife. Paola will be happy to walk with you on the trails and help you to familiarize with the surrounding nature. Horses, chickens and other farm animals are part of our family – please enjoy and respect them. At the Folk Tree lodge we celebrate each season in its uniqueness.
