Anglais: Opposite the town of Korcula, Orebic, together with the entire Peljesac Riviera, is an ancient mariners haven, second in the world with regard to the number of ocean liner captains. For this reason ships sailing near Orebic sound their sirens in greeting.
Distinguished estate-owning and seamen's families used to build magnificent stone houses here. The Maritime Museum was opened to bear witness to Orebic's maritime history. Two private collections (owned by the families of sea captains) are also exhibited here.
The Orebic Riviera is a special attraction for windsurfers owing to the favourable winds of the Peljesac Strait. There is Ostupa beach for nudists.

Anglais: The town of Orebic was for many centuries the center of navigation. Thanks to the protective ridge of Sveti Ilija, the region around Orebic is rich in cypresses, palms, vines and fruit trees with figs, oranges and lemons. Many wealthy families built more ships here than a villa. With the beautiful sand, pebble and rocky beaches, the region is often called the Riviera of Peljesac. In Orebic are many attractions. The most interesting are the Franciscan monastery and the 15th century church and the beautiful facades of the master houses. On the quay there is the maritime, Pomorski museum. Navigational instruments, charts and many images from the rich past of the city are exhibited. The area around Orebic is ideal for the practice of different sports. There is a diving and surf school. There are also boats and bicycles for rent. Highly recommended is the walk to the Sveti Ilija Mountain of 961 m. The walk takes about four hours. It is an adventurous trip because there are no paths built. The trip is definitely worth it, because from the mountain you have a breathtaking view over the island of Korcula, on the one hand, and the Biokovo mountains on the other hand. Orebic is situated at 63 km from Ston and 121 km from Dubrovnik. There is a ferry between Ploce and Trpanj which significantly shortens this distance. Of course there is the chance for ordinary road along the picturesque Ston driving. From Orebic leaves a ferry, it goes to the city of Korcula. After a trip of 10 minutes in the city of Marco Polo.- En ligne depuis: 2010-08-23
