Zeulenroda-Triebes is situated in the south of the district in the mountains of the Thuringian Slate Mountains (Thüringer Schiefergebirge), on the border to Saxonia. In Zeulenroda-Triebes live about 18000 (2006) inhabitants. The largest company is Bauerfeind AG. Giengen an der Brenz (Baden-Württemberg, Germany ) is a twin town of Zeulenroda-Triebes.
