Orebic
Getting there
This apartment is located in the beautiful small town of Orebic, a community with 330 inhabitants, in the southwestern part of the Peljesac peninsula. Peljesac and Korcula are only about 600 meters apart. The coast of Peljesac is one of the toughest of Dalmatia. Peljesac is known for its excellent red wine. Be sure to visit the villages of Dingac, Potomje and Postup. The most famous wine is the wine of Dingac. Furthermore, Peljesac is very quiet. The sandy beach of Orebic is known throughout Europe. Here you can also find many recreational activities such as tennis and a variety of water sports plus a rich nightlife. There are a number of attractions in the area including: Korcula - the birthplace of Marco Polo; the cities of Dubrovnik, Ston, Mostar and Makarska; and the national park of Mljet. Everything is recommended! In the village itself you will find everything you need such as a supermarket, butcher, restaurants, bar, pharmacy and doctor. 2 kilometers to the west of Orebic lies a Franciscan monastery dating from the 15th century. This monastery was built in Gothic-Renaissance style and houses a large collection of artwork. From this monastery you can enjoy a truly magnificent view of the area. The church was built in 1486 by Mihoc Radisic. The main gate is a carved Madonna (tympanum), the work of an anonymous follower of N. Fiamberti. The church also has a tympanum with Madonna which was made by Nikola Firentinac. In the past, Orebic was an important port. Until the 16th century it was called the city of "Trstenica" and was the residence of the duke. Traces of a Roman house have also been found here. Orebic offers untouched nature with hundred-year-old pines, cypress trees, almond trees and flowers. When combined with the beautiful beaches and numerous small bays with crystal clear water, Orebic makes a wonderful holiday destination!
