In Southern Normandy, half way between the lively medieval market town of Villedieu les Poêles, famous for its copper production and the historic town of Vire, renowed for its culinary delights. 50 km from mystical Mont St Michel and its bay and 40 km from Granville, with boats to the Channel islands. 80 km from Caen and its ferry port. Also within easy reach of the D-day landing beaches.
Environment : Tranquil setting amongst woodland, overlooking the lake.

Villedieu les Poêles. 15 km. Little town with attractive old centre and famous for its bell foundry which can be visited.
Avranches. 30 km. Pretty market town with attractive centre in the Mont St Michel bay and gateway to Brittany.
Granville. 45 km. Port and lively seaside resort with pleasant long beach and fortified old centre looking out towards the Channel islands. Ferries to the Channel islands and Iles Chausey.
Coutances. 45 km. Old hill town overlooked by its stunning half-gothic half-Norman cathedral. No to miss on Summer evenings when a sound and light show makes the most of this dramatic building.

Le Village Enchanté, Bellefontaine. 18 km. For children age 3 to 10. In a natural park now further developed around wells and brooks, let yourself be lulled into a child''s imaginary world : the valley of fairy tales, the fountain gardens, enchanted waterfalls, ride on the miniature railway, watch automated shows about the legend of Charlemagne, the elves forest, play area for both children and adults.
Zoo de Champrepus, Villedieu les Poëles. 20 km. Animal park. 50 species in an exotic environment. Safeguard of rare species in process of disappearance, 7 hectares of grounds with monkey bars, educational and fun courses. Also miniature farm, ideal for small kids with interactive activities and a game park.
Jardins Botaniques, Avranches. 30 km. Home to over 70,000 delightful and fascinating species of plants, with fantastic views out over the sands of the spectacular Mont St Michel.
La Forêt des Elfes, Cérences. 35 km. Tree top adventure park/Paintball. A 10 hectare of natural woodland with river, offering multiple workshops and courses. Also available is ample free parking and a walking trail. Also paintball available (indoor and outdoor).

FURTHER AFIELD:
Mont St Michel. 55 km. Stunning monastery built on a small rocky island linked to the mainland by a causeway. Second most popular tourist attraction in France, it is a real delight to wander the narrow street with shops, hotels and restaurants leading to the abbey, or stroll in the gardens. Guided tour of the abbey itself.
Fougères. 60 km. Hill top town with medieval quarters, narrow winding streets and a truly magnificent medieval fortress. The town has inspired many great artists and writers throughout its history. Fougères forest is ideal for walking, cycling and has a very pleasant lake with swimming beach and play area.
Bayeux. 75 km. Attractive town with well-preserved medieval centre and a renowned cathedral. Also famous for its tapestry depicting the story of the conquest of England and King Harold by the Norman William the Conqueror, in the Battle of Hastings. D-Day landings memorial museum.
Caen. 80 km. Although almost completely destroyed in 1944 during WWII, Caen boasts an attractive historic centre. With beautiful abbeys and ramparts, excellent museums and lively pedestrian streets with good shops, it is well-worth a visit.
