Solisterra Eco-Cottage : Own Sandy Beach The cottage has 6 bedrooms and can accommodate up to16 people.It is located directly on its own sandy beach, on a private lake without power boats, which makes it a peaceful and safe place for bathers.The ground floor is designed with a bedroom and an adapted bathroom for easy accessibility for mobility impaired people or those in a wheelchair.The cottage comes with its domain of 144 hectares (350 acres) which includes 2 lakes and 5km of sandy roads for bicycle rides or hikes along wild strawberry and blueberry fields and through mature forests.
One of the tallest straw bale structure in the world, standing at 38 feet, the solisterra cottage’s walls are completely made of straw and is off grid. It gets its energy from the sun, hence the name Solisterra: latin for Land of the Sun.A magnificent masonry heater heats the cottage during the winter. Combined with the efficiency of straw insulation, it makes this cottage comfortable all year.
The Solisterra cottage was designed by architect Dominique Tonetti who is specialized in Sustainable Development and environmental architecture. We inventory and inspect the unit before and after your stay. You will be charged for missing items including linens, keys, books, game pieces, etc. You will be charged for excessive cleaning, dirty dishes, moved furniture, and garbage not disposed of in the proper receptacles. You will be charged for damage done to the unit beyond normal wear and tear and for violations to the house rules. Cancellation Policy: The full amount must be paid for cancellations less than 20 days prior to arrival. Rules: ABSOLUTELY NO PETS ALLOWED: ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING ALLOWED IN THE HOUSE: outside please dispose of butts in the fire pit. Rule breakers are subject to losing their damage deposit. ON DEPARTURE: All furniture should be in the same place as it was on arrival. The kitchen should be clean, dishes washed, and refrigerator wiped down. The thermostat should be turned to 55 degrees during winter months. Air-conditioning should be set to 78 degrees. All trash should be bagged and disposed of in garbage can.
